When I signed up, the thought was that one reason to over-fund one's suspension was to pay for standby. Given that Alcor must survive decades, or even centuries, I see the financial risks (in highest-to-lowest likelihood order) as: 1) Embezzlement/theft - I have a great deal of trust in everyone currently working at Alcor, but in the decades to come... who knows? However, I still believe strongly that memory is stored chemically and not entirely physically. Still the chemical breakdown of cell structures and walls will be difficult to undo, even if we develop the ability to both create and destroy subatomic atoms in fixed space (in a frozen brain structure)...
